
The Russian Bass Ildar Abdrazakov, the first Russian, together with his wife Olga Borodina, to ever have won the Grammy (best classical album and best choral performance, 2011,Verdi Requiem/Chicago Symphony/Muti et al.) was born in Ufa and before the Gramy has won a number of international competition, including the Moscow Grand Prix, Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakov and Maria Callas International Competitions. He is now one of the most sought after basses worldwide in roles such as Attila, Mefistopheles (Gunod, Boito and Berliozs’ Faust), Don Giovanni, Figaro, Moise (Moise et Pharaon), Four Devil (les Comtes Hoffmann) to name but a few. This season will see him in the Verdi Requiem at the Salzburg Festival with the Vienna Philharmonic and Maeatro Muti, in a new production of Anna Bolena for the opening season of the Met as well as Dosifei in Khovanchina, Italiana in Algeri in Vienna, Hoffmann at La Scala and Attila in Rome. |
